Fernanda is the youngest of Mrs. Aninhas das Grades’ two daughters. The master. “She was the weaver that worked more and better. There’s no one now and there will never be anyone that works like her”, Fernanda says.
She began working in linen craft when she was 15 years old, but she learned it long before that. She grew up among linen and weaving looms.
Being Mrs. Aninhas daughter and Mrs. Maria Joaquina goddaughter – both founders of Cooperativa Grupo de Tecelagem de Limões, Fernanda feels the responsibility to perpetuate the quality of local linen craftwork. She refuses adulterations. She imposes herself the discipline and the loyalty to the drawings and to the technique. “The discipline and the quality always existed in our home”.
And, as far as we can see, there will always exist.
